On Monday, May 18th in the WMS auditorium Mr. McGuire, Mrs. Maneri, and the WMS choir, band, and camarata students performed the WMS Spring Concert.
Mr. McGuire, the WMS camarata and choir teacher, explained that the concert is a lot of fun and he loves his job. He also said he loves “getting to share something I’m passionate about with students every day.”
McGuire also explained how he enjoys teaching each grade level, “Its also awesome because I get to teach all three grade levels, so where as some teachers in the building only work with 6th grade, 7th grade, or 8th grade, I get to work with all three of those grade levels, so by the time my students are in 8th grade, I’ve really gotten to know them, I’m close with them, and thats really exciting.”
On the band side of things, Mrs. Maneri, the WMS band teacher also expressed her love for being a band teacher, “It’s pretty much the best thing in the world, I have a lot of fun doing it.”
Maneri also explained that the WMS band started working on the music in the beginning of the year, emphasizing the preparation that goes into the event, “Specifically for the spring concert, we started that music in February but the kids are working on their skills since September.”
Jael Cockren, a WMS band performer expressed that she would change when the trumpets stand during one of their songs called buglers holiday, “Not the trumpets to stand up during ‘Bugler’s Holiday’ because since people are watching you won’t be able to see them (the people in the back).”
Savannah Burnett, a WMS choir performer expressed her feelings about being a choir performer at the concert, “It was a nice experience, (and) it was very beautiful.”
