Mr Godkin recently arrived at WMS around 1.5 years ago as a history teacher.
Mr Godkin stated that he loves the “overall vibe” of this school and that it is a good place for him to be. Mr Godkin also mentioned that the staff and students are also “fun and good people” to be around. He is a firm believer in being a leader and follower depending on the situation and goal.
He also encouraged mental health assistance by telling people “do not be afraid to ask for help when you feel it is needed as your safety comes first.”
Mr Godkin originally worked at a summer camp and worked with several kids, but also was a custodian for a while as well. He eventually realized that he worked very well with kids and had to go through the tough decision of becoming a teacher or follow through with being a nurse and eventually decided that since he had worked well with kids he would become a teacher.
He wants to have an even bigger impact compared to what he does now and he would like to have an impact on kids especially since they are the backbone of everything and the future leaders of the next generation.
Mr Godkin said that everyone can have passion depending on what they do and who they are with because it’s more so an “interest thing” compared to working ethic, more so having the correct environment and people around then having interest but also a learning style too.
He has high hopes of being here in the future, but if it’s further down the road then he would want to work on his masters degree and become something that has a much higher impact.
The more preferred Jolly Rancher for him is the cherry Jolly Rancher over the blue raspberry Jolly Rancher as well because it fits his taste in terms of sweetness and it’s just a pure classic.
A student of his, Steven Apollo stated three things about him which were the following. “I think he’s a pretty chill teacher and like I think he’s good at teaching history and good at the role of being a history teacher.”
Along with, “I feel like it’s a good environment and like nothing bad happens in class.”
