The Woodridge Middle School students and staff were recognized for the hard work and effort put into the 2025-2026 school year.
WMS community members explained what they would like to change in their clubs NJHS and the Woodbridge Middle Cheer team.
Ms. McHale is a teacher at WMS who teaches Language arts,Graphic Novel, and the co-advisor of NJHS. Ms. McHale stated that if she could add something different to NJHS it would be to have it open “more to than we do now for students to come up with the service projects and really to spearhead them rather than Ms.Torella and I giving them the assignment to see what their ideas can be whether it’s for the community or for our school.”
Alex Dinicola is an 8th grade honors student and a member of NJHS. Alex Dinicola said, “If I could add something to NJHS it would be more activities to benefit the school and make it more entertaining but beneficial.”
He also said, “Maybe even some fun activities like taking students out of class to have more meetings.”
He said, “I was inspired to join NJHS to increase my education and because I like the teachers in the program.”
Mrs. Liastro is a cheer coach and a History teacher at WMS. Mrs. Liastro stated that she was inspired most by her mother, “My mom was like the best human you will ever meet. She was fun and caring. She just made everything feel like it was magical and made you feel like you’re the most important person in the room. She was an educator and she’s the reason I decided to change careers and become a teacher. She made life fun and so I try to just emulate her and do the same thing everyday in my classroom and in life in general. She wishes that she could add more time to the season. It would give cheer as a whole, more time to bond, get to know each other, perform, and experiment.”
Nina Sadowski is an 8th grade honors student who is captain of the cheer team and a member of NJHS. Nina Sadowski said, “that she believes cheer benefits the school because it’s a way that we can make it fun during assemblies and if we do a pep rally or anything it makes it entertaining for us doing it and gives us something to do after school and look forward to. Especially getting to wear the uniforms.”
Nina Sadowski also stated, “Even the people that aren’t involved in cheer, it can be fun for them to watch because we do such intricate stuff. But yea honestly I think we bring some pep into the school and we’re the school spirit everyone needs.”
