An 8th grader, Steven Apollo, recently won Warrior of the Week, the first week that the award was announced.
When asked what he did to achieve warrior of the week, Apollo said, “I think that it was helping my classmates, and doing my work and stuff like that.”
When asked if sports ever affected his education, Apollo said, “I am a big football fan, but it has never affected my education.”
When asked for advice for other students who would want to win Warrior of the week, Apollo said, “Stay good and don’t be too much for the teachers, because you don’t want to do too much because they still work hard to educate us.”
When asked about which teacher helped him win Warrior of the Week, Apollo said, “Mr. Malmstrom.”
Mr. Malmstrom was then interviewed about Steven. One of the questions was how did Steven excel the week he won Warrior of the Week, and he said, “I think the better question is when doesn’t Steven excel? Because he is always excelling. Steven was a phenomenal journalist; he always was prepared, he had excellent questions, he was extremely professional, and he was always asking what else he could do and, I loved having him in class.”
Mr. Malmstrom also when asked if he thinks Steven can win again, he said, “Yeah, I think he could go for a three-peat if he wanted to.”
