Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the most chaotic days of the year. These days have the biggest sales of the year, and these huge deals are what attract people to shopping even more than usual. Now, with the addition of advanced technology, people can shop on Black Friday and Cyber Monday right in the comfort of their own homes. This now brings up a debate. Which form of shopping is better? Online or Offline?

According to an anonymous survey, more people do online shopping than offline, but a majority also don’t shop at all during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend.

With better technology, online shopping have gained much popularity, and the survey-takers mostly agree with that. Fifty percent of the survey-takers said that online shopping was more popular than offline shopping. Lots of people shop online now, but it is not wrong to say that physical stores still have mobs.

It’s a faster way to get the things that we need, but at the same time people are becoming less active and should probably get up and just go shop outside of the house,” said an anonymous person from the poll about online shopping. I completely agree with this. It is much faster than waiting in line at the store, especially on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

“I think it’s better because then you know you aren’t getting anything damaged,” said another anonymous poll-taker about their opinion of offline shopping. I also agree with this person. Sometimes items can become damaged in transit when ordering online.. If you go to the store, you can know if the item you want is damaged or not, so you know what to buy and not waste money.

Online deals have certainly made things easier, but I still see people fighting each other in front of stores and charging into stores like a war movie on the news. I don’t understand this behavior and will never take part in it,” said an anonymous individual about how Black Friday has changed. They have a good point. Even with less people going to stores because of online shopping, there are still problems with going into physical stores.

Most of the people on the survey say that offline, or in-store shopping, is the best way of shopping. Some people say that it is better because you can see if the item you want is damaged or not. Another one says going to the store can “get you outside the house”.

Seventh grade students Ruth Mathew and Zachary Cook both shared their views on Black Friday shopping. Mathew said she shops online. Cook also said he shops online, but most times he doesn’t shop at all.

Mathew and Cook both have different opinions on which form of Black Friday is better. Mathew said that shopping online is better because if so many people are in stores, accidents could happen. Cook thinks going to the store is better because “stuff online goes out of stock faster”.

“I just think [online shopping] is better. I can also do it when watching TV,” Mathew said. Cook said online shopping is much more “effective” but the downside is things go out of stock faster. Both Mathew and Ruth think that offline shopping is a lot more risky. Mathew said that there is a more likely chance you could get hurt by a mob. Cook thinks offline shopping is good, but it is “terrible on Black Friday”

Black Friday has been around for so many years, and with that, so many things have changed. Maybe for the better, or even for the worse. Cook and Mathew both agree that Black Friday has gotten better with the addition of online shopping. Cook mentions that more people are going online these days.

Since Black Friday has so many deals, people are going to buy a lot of clothing, toys for Christmas, technology like phones, computers, and TVs, and a large variety of products. Cook said he didn’t buy anything this year, but Mathew, on the other hand, bought a whole ton of stuff. She said she bought boots, sweatshirts, and even a dress.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are exciting days for many people. Huge sales draw people in easily, whether it’s online or offline. Everyone has different opinions on which form of shopping is better these days with all the new, advanced technology. No matter how many new arguments pop up, the question of online or offline shopping will still remain.
