The WMS cheer tryouts have concluded and the cheer roster is up! The tryouts have made history and the WMS cheer team has their first boy cheerleader.

Coach Liastro said “It’s not difficult to to score the girls and boys who tried out, the procedures are fair and the guidelines are clear. It’s hard to cut the students that we love.” Mrs. Liastro and Mrs. Duffy create the cheers from cheers that they know and put them all together and they get help from former WMS cheerleaders.

8th grader Megan Boyle, said, “I did good with the time I was given but I messed up a few times.” Boyle also says she does gymnastics and dance similar to cheer, Boyle also says that she might do cheer in high school.

8th grader Riley Volpe, said, “I did good with the time I got.” Volpe thinks she will do cheer when she is in high school. Volpe has also done gymnastics and cheered for the Iselin Giants when she was a little kid.

8th grader Jeffrey Deleon Vaca is the first boy in WMS history to join the cheer team. Deleon Vaca said “It feel crazy joining the cheer team but if feels good making history for our school.” Jeffrey tried out for the team because his friend and cousin were trying out and he wanted to see if he would make the team.
