The following is a full transcript of the interview given by TEALA CAVERLY to The Warrior Messenger’s MAIRA AJAZ about tumbling and competitions
(The Warrior Messenger) MAIRA AJAZ, HOST: How do you spell your first and last name?
TEALA CAVERLY (7th-grade cheerleader for the WMS cheer team): t-e-a-l-a-c-a-v-e-r-l-y
MA: How did you learn your flips and how long does it take?
TC: So when I was 2 years old, my mom put me in dance and that was acrobat and tumbling classes. So I learned a few flips from there and then I was a gymnast, so I learned a couple of stuff from there. So probably about 6 years to get good at everything.
MA: When performing, are you scared or are you confident? Can you please tell me more about it?
TC: It usually depends on what I’m doing, so for some of my dances I feel confident and really good and for others I get really nervous. Say for my acro dance, doing flips and everything is so hard especially when the stage is so slippery.
MA: What do you win at competitions?
TC: Usually at the competitions I will sometimes win a crown and sometimes a trophy, medals, or plaques
MA:. Was there ever a time you wanted to give up?
TC: All the time, like once it gets hard I’m the type of person to quit.
MA: How many competitions did you win?
TC: Being an elite athlete I’ve usually won all my competitions throughout the season.
MA:Why did you start competing?
TC: Because my mom started competing when she was my age and she is the director of my team so I was basically born into it.
MA: Is there anything else you would like to add?
TC: No.
MA: Thank you for your time.
