Today we are featuring Ava Kripaitis, an 8th grader at WMS, that tells us about her experience playing softball here at WMS. To start off, and to learn a little more about her preferences in the sport, I asked what positions she plays. Kripaitis stated “I could play anywhere, but mainly its 3rd and middle infield.”
Next, knowing she had some good laughs with coach, I asked her the personal opinions she had about Coach DeLeo. Kripaitis stated, “I think she’s a good coach, and she’s funny.” Kripaitis then explained her experience being on the team, “It was fun being an 8th grader, and seeing the 6th graders having the chance to play, and also helping them out.”
The advice she would give upcoming , or incoming 6th graders who are interested in the sport, was very inspiring, as Kripaitis stated, “Just be a team player, and try your best because softball is not easy. It’s like a game of mistakes and you need to make mistakes to get better. And the game is about growing from failure, but also softball isn’t all about that. It’s a team sport. Be a good sport, even to other teams.”
