The following is a full transcript of the interview given by Israh Sukhera to The Warrior Messenger’s Zara Atif about what her favorite Arab artists and songs are.
(The Warrior Messenger) ZARA ATIF, HOST: How do you spell your first and last name?
Israh Sukhera (A seventh grader at WMS): I-S-R-A-H S-U-K-H-E-R-A.
ZA: Who are your top three Arab song artists right now?
IS: Saad Lemjarred, Dystinct, and Mohommad Ramadan.
ZA: What are your top three Arab songs right now?
IS: “La”, “Yama”, and “Ta3al.”
ZA: If you had to pick only one Arab artist to listen to who would it be and why?
IS: Dystinct because his songs are super original, especially since I, myself, am a Moroccan. His songs are super original in my opinion.
ZA: Which Arab artist do you believe has the best vocal range or unique vocal quality?
IS: Oh definitely Dystinct.
ZA: Who is a currently popular Arab artist that you think is overrated, and who is one that is underrated?
IS: I think Saad Lemjarred is really underrated because he has really good songs, especially because he sings different dialects of Arabic. He mixes just like Dystinct, and I feel like Ahmed Saad is really overrated and his songs are really mid; they’re not that good, and lots of people like him a lot and I don’t know why.
ZA: If you could see any Arab artist living or dead, who would you choose and why?
IS: Definitely Dystinct, I love that guy he’s so good!
ZA: Is there anything else you would like to add?
IS: Nope, that’s it.
