With there being so many fictional characters out there. Superheroes are one of the biggest groups and everyone has their favorites and today I will be saying  my top 3 favorite superheroes of all time and why they’re my favorites.

Spider-Man

The reason why I love Spider-man so much isn’t because of how famous he is or his cool powers but mainly because of who he is. Even when he’s getting beat up, having a bad day, or going through his own struggles he never gives up and that’s worth a lot to me. A hero isn’t someone who flies around in cape, a hero is someone that is willing to put others before themselves to do the right thing. Peter lost both his parents at a young age, has had the whole universe forget he exists in some stories,  has been broke, and had relationship issues all while having to deal with the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Although Spider-Man has super spider powers he’s just as human as any of us. He laughs, gets angry, sad, and has problems to deal with so I feel like him being relatable is also pretty cool. Ever since I was a kid I’ve always looked up to him, he’s always inspired me, given me hope, and made me want to be a better person. Spider-man isn’t just a fictional character for story telling but also to teach people some important life lessons. I feel like Spider-man is one of the best if not the best representation of what it truly means to be responsible.

Even when Uncle Ben died he blamed it on himself when it wasn’t his fault and that shows how willing he is to take accountability for things even if it wasn’t something that he chose. One of my favorite Spider-Man related quotes of all time is “Anyone can wear the mask” by Stan Lee. To go into detail about what this quote means this quote is basically him saying that the reason why Spider-man’s suit covers the full body is to show that no matter what someone’s race, background. Gender, or color of skin anyone can imagine themselves as Spider-man and it really touches my heart. Spider-man will forever have a special place in my heart. 

Spider-man isn’t a perfect hero but another thing that makes him such a lovable hero is that he’s relatable. Have you ever felt really angry at something and felt like it was taking over, the same has happened with Spider-man When Spider-man got the symbiote he was a completely different person he was constantly infuriated, wasn’t holding back, and was really just not Spider-man anymore. Even after all this he realized what the symbiote turned him into and eventually felt guilty and took off the symbiote.  Spider-man has been a sign of hope, inspiration, and motivation to people world wide and he will always be my favorite hero.

Mark Grayson/Invincible

This might be controversial to some people because people usually say that he’s not a good hero, or complain about how he’s called Invincible but is always getting beat up, or how he was too attached to Eve during the Invincible war. Mark isn’t called “Invincible” because he’s strong or just because it sounds cool he’s called Invincible because of his ability to never give up even when the weight of the world is on him, or when entire cities are getting leveled, or even when the most powerful beings in the universe are attacking him

**Before I continue there will be some spoilers from the comics.**

Some good examples of this include him fighting his own dad(Omni-man) who was the strongest person on earth at the time and who beat him nearly to death or when he was fighting Conquest near the end of the fight after he thought eve might’ve died, he said the words, “I don’t care how strong you are, I don’t care how fast you are, I can see the future you don’t live to see tomorrow”  and kept fighting with 2 broken arms and a broken leg

I just really like his determination, perseverance, and willingness to nearly die as long as it keeps the people around him safe. In almost every alternate universe Mark Grayson/Invincible is evil and decided to go with their fathers plan of conquering earth and every other variant that was good died in their fight with Omni-man. The reason on why Omni-man left earth was when he told mark “WHAT WILL YOU HAVE AFTER 500 YEARS” Mark told him “You dad, I’d still have you.” 

This was the first time he had ever felt sadness and is what led to him having a change of heart. This shows very good character development.

With all the trauma and pain he’s had to go through I genuinely think he had every right to become a villain but he didn’t and that’s what makes him such a great character.  I also really like some of his feats such as defeating Conquest twice, being able to fight on the surface of the sun where he defeated Thragg, and becoming the emperor of the Viltrumites. I just really like his arc and how he went from losing most of his fights to surpassing every single person that would’ve beat him back then. When people say that Invincible is bad as a hero I think it’s more about showing the real life consequences of what being a superhero is and I think that’s what makes it more realistic and what makes the character really good. 

Batman: 

The reason why Batman is my third favorite superhero is because I just love how he shows that you don’t need powers to be a good hero and that being a hero isn’t all about strength. Bruce Wayne/Batman was one of the only few people without powers to defeat superman multiple times, and yeah people will usually argue that it was only because he had kryptonite but in my opinion I think that’s just being smart. The reason why I say that is because If you’re aware of what your enemies weakness is and if you know that that’s probably the most effective way to defeat them you should probably use it.

 Batman watched his parents die right in front of him when he was only 8 years old and from that day on he decided he was gonna stand up for what was right and help those around him. Batman isn’t a god or an alien from another planet, He’s a regular human that  just has many life problems and that’s something that makes the character so enjoyable. Batman also has some really cool nicknames in my opinion such as The Dark Night, Vengeance, The Caped Crusader, and The Defender of Gotham. My personal favorite is Vengeance.

Something that I really like about Batman as I mentioned earlier is how he doesn’t have powers unlike other famous superheroes like Spiderman, Superman, The Flash, or The Hulk. I’m not saying that these characters are bad. I actually really love all of them but I’m just saying that Batman stood out to me because of that. Batman doesn’t rely on super strength or super speed but instead intelligence. Bruce Wayne is one of the smartest characters from the DC Universe with an iq well over 200 which can compare with other smart characters like Tony Stark(Iron Man) or even Reed Richards(Mr. Fantastic). 

The thing that I really love about Batman is that he never runs away. When Batman was fighting Superman he knew that he was stronger and he still didn’t give up and stood his ground. Bruce even managed to block one of his punches and while, in terms of physicality, Superman is stronger I would say that Batman’s intelligence is more efficient. 

Ever since I was little I always had love for Batman because usually when someone’s parents die right in front of them, especially at 8 years old, you usually don’t even want to live anymore but Bruce didn’t and he kept on going. No matter how difficult the situation is, no matter what the odds are, he never gives up and stays strong and that’s why he’s my third favorite superhero.
