Introduction: With Stranger things coming to a close there has been a lot of controversy on whether it was good or bad. Although season 5 had its flaws it’s not as bad as people think. I will be talking about my overall thoughts, opinions and why its not as bad as fans of the show are saying.
Plot
Taking place in the fall of 1987 a year and a half after the previous season, the main focus of Stranger Things 5 is that the party and the others are trying to finally defeat Henry Creel/Vecna while the Upside down is merging with Hawkins. In episode one titled “The Crawl” it gives us a good introduction by featuring a flashback on how Vecna originally captured WIll Byers and trapped him in the Upside Down, showing us how Eleven’s strength, speed, and agility has increased, The party coming up with a plan to find and defeat Vecna, and Will connecting to the hive mind and seeing through the Demogorgons visions.
Key details:
Some really important key details include the military going on lock down in search for Jane Hopper(Eleven), Max still remains in a coma, explaining the true origin of the upside down, Will Byers using the hive mind to use Vecna’s powers against him and the demos, and of course the the final battle with the whole group in the abyss, where they ultimately defeated Henry Creel Vecna.
Audience complaints
Another factor that plays into this is the audiences views on some of the characters such as people suggesting that Dustin was being too focused and attached to Eddie after his death, or how Kali was really annoying to El, or in some cases people will even say that Mike wasn’t as important in season 5 as he was in like season 1 o 3. Or how defeating Henry/Vecna was rushed. In my defense I would say that the ending to the show was rushed and wasn’t as successful as the other episodes in terms of enjoyment, satisfaction, and overall pacing but Though This might be a drawback theres still more important aspects that happen that led to the finale.
Pros and cons
Some of the pros of this season include getting to see intense moments with characters such as Steve and Dustin, the return of the Mind Flayer, Will Byers getting telepathic powers by taping into the hive mind, and the shows overall ability to keep you entertained throughout each episode. Now for some of the cons that would be it ending off on a cliffhanger leaving you wondering if Eleven is alive or not, Vecna’s death being too quick, bringing back Kali, and its lack of showing certain characters being in lack of danger.
Conclusion
At the end of the day whether people liked it or not I think that season 5 of Stranger things did a great job with showing us good development with the characters, the emotional impact that it brought to us, the intense and dramatic moments, and just the overall ability to be packed with action while maintaining enjoyable to people of all ages. Stranger Things also teaches you things about life such as family is always blood, it’s never too late to change, and that even when things are hard you should always try to persevere and overcome it. Stranger Things isn’t just a show that we watch for fun and entertainment but its also something that teaches you valuable things about life.
