Are you someone who is scared to get hurt in soccer? Are you someone who always gets the ball taken away? It is not a good feeling, I used to be exactly like that. I used to think that girls taller than me are scary and strong. Now that I have had some more time and experience in the team, I have learned many new skills. I have interviewed a couple of soccer players and a teacher who are involved in soccer.
One of the people I interviewed was Brandon Camacena. I interviewed him because he is a good soccer player who knows how to play and has once been offered to be a D1 soccer player at a young age. The question I asked Brandon to begin the interview was what he thinks are the necessary qualities to be a good forward. Brandon answered that “it depends on your mindset.” Afterward he said that what makes a forward good is “speed, control with the ball, and dribbling with your head up.” To close this interview he answered that the advice he would give a forward is “don’t look at the ball when you’re dribbling and to also practice a lot.”
The next person I interviewed was Zayd Moro since he is in a soccer team and is a skilled player with good techniques. Zayd said that he thinks that the qualities to be a good striker is to practice, and to be aggressive. He then expressed that he thinks that the qualities needed physically to be a good forward is speed. Finally, Zayd said that the advice he would give a forward is “do not give up”.
My final person was Mr.Salinas, he is the person who manages the soccer club here at WMS and I think that he was a good person to ask these questions. Mr. Salinas said that the necessary qualities to be a good forward is to have good vision. He then proceeded to say that what makes a player good is the mindset, because if you’re positive and stay with a good attitude, the game will be fun, and your teammates will not lose hope and keep trying to win the ball. The advice he would give to a forward is to not be selfish, because if you’re selfish, you will lose the ball. He finally added that the forward always moves even without the ball, they are always moving around the field to help out. Mr. Salinas also pointed out that a forward always knows where the goal is.
I really liked these answers and I think these are great responses. I personally believe that to be a good forward is more than just speed and mindset. I believe that it is about commitment and determination. My advice for a forward is to always keep your head up even when you’re losing, stand strong, be physical, and have good sportsmanship. If you want to stand out as a forward, always stay humble, actions speak louder than words. What you do, is what people will remember.
