MADISON RACKETT PITCHING A PATH TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WMS BASEBALL TEAM IS READY TO STRIKEOUT THE COMPETITION

The WMS girls softball team and boys baseball team are both in the championship game against Colonia Middle. Will they be able to bring home a win?

Jasmine Morales is happy that the WMS girls softball team is going to the championship for the second time in a row. She hopes that when she graduates WMS, the softball team will “continue to head to the championship.”

Madison Rackett is nervous, but at the same time excited for going to her first championship for the WMS softball team. When asked “How do you feel about leading the team next year?” , Rackett replied by saying she’s “nervous and excited”. Rackett is “ready to go” and her mentality is good for the last game of the season.

Coaches, Maneri and Dunn, think the loss against CMS brought the team “back to reality” and stopped the team from being “overconfident”. They don’t plan to do anything differently, but they are going to practice hard. Maneri thinks the team is “where [they] need to be”. Maneri and Dunn feel the girls will be nervous, but will work hard to have a “back-to-back championship”.

The Woodbridge Warriors baseball team is also in the championship for the 2nd time straight. Last year they lost, so now they are looking for redemption. Although he is confident about the game, Brett Lukachyk, an 8th grader on the team, says that he and his team are “practicing hard to prepare for the game.”  Lukachyk is the starting pitcher tomorrow.

Ricky Nagy, a 7th grader, was not on the team last year to experience the championship. When asked if he’ll be stressed about being in such a huge game for the first time he said “no” because he has “been in tight situations before.” When asked what he is most nervous about he says, “Hitting, I want to see the ball longer. J.T. Kroner, the pitcher for Colonia,  is a hard lefty and a great opponent.” Lastly, when asked if he was pumped up, Nagy said he was “very excited”.

Coach Thompson is feeling good about going to the championship. He says that he is “Very proud of the team”. When asked if his team needs anything to practice, he said, “There is always something to practice and mastering our basic skills will win the game. Repetition is key.”
