In case students were wondering about a new face roaming the hallways, Mr. Mike Burke is a new security guard here at WMS.
In Mr. Burke’s free time, he enjoys going fishing and playing softball.
Burke said that his favorite thing about WMS is “just the school and the kids, [a] good group of people.”
Mr. Burke explained what got him into being a security guard, “I was a cop for a lot of years, and then I retired.”
Mr. Burke has some responsibilities/duties at our school. Mr. Panko explained that the duties of a security guard here at WMS “are to make sure we have a safe and secure environment as if we are living in a place where there is not anybody coming in, like outside threats or any threats inside that might be going out.”
Mr. Burke has been very helpful around the school. An example of him helping a student was when Reona Kovaci said, “He helped us take pictures for the Warrior Messenger.” Not only is he helpful, but Mr. Panko also said that “I feel like he presents the idea of stability.”
Mr Panko had also said, “As faculty members know him and we see him, and that’s also important, so we know who to rely on in certain situations.”
WMS knows that Mr. Burke is a helpful person whom students and faculty members can rely on.
