Boys volleyball coach Mr Salinas coached the volleyball team through a season of growth.
Like a lot of other sports, volleyball can have difficult situations and some people aren’t able to handle these situations correctly, especially when it comes to sports. Mr. Salinas gave an explanation of how someone can stay calm in a game.
Salinas said, “Well, you have to keep a cool head during a game. Especially in difficult situations. You try not to apply too much pressure on the players because they look for guidance inside their coach.”
7th graders at WMS, Dylan Dwyer, Braylen Sanklev, and Daniel Crowley who play for WMS boys volleyball also had thoughts for this. Sandklev said, “I just take a deep breath, and then keep going.”
Setter/Server for the WMS boys volleyball team Dwyer said, “I just take a deep breath, and then keep going.”
Another Setter/Server for the WMS boy volleyball team Crowley said, “I don’t let it affect me throughout the game.”
Warming up before a game is important but also interesting. Volleyball has some specific warm-ups. Salinas explained some ways that his team warms up, “Serving, we do a couple of stretches, move around the court a little bit, and mentally prepare for the game.”
Salinas talked about how his team has grown so far and what he expects for next year. He said how over the season the team has become a little more “coherent” over the season and how most players have never even played a volleyball game before but they grew overtime.
He also stated how he plans for most people that played this season to be back next season to help the new players and to still have players with experience.
