The WMS drama club isn’t just about stepping on stage, it’s about the preparation, passion, and pushing through nerves to put on a show everyone will remember.
Mrs. Early, the drama club teacher, explains that getting ready for a show takes a lot of practice and teamwork. “We start practicing weeks in advance, with auditions and rehearsals,” she said. “Everyone works hard to memorize their lines, learn their roles, and get comfortable on stage.”
Mistakes happen, but they don’t stop the show. Mrs. Early explains how accidents are a part of life and that it happens. She said, “There are always small things that go wrong. Like a prop falling or music starting late, but that’s just part of live theater. One student even got nervous and froze on stage, but after some pep talks, they found their confidence and finished strong.”
Adrianna Boniela, a 7th grade student, joined drama club this year because she’s always loved theater and the dreams of performing on Broadway. “My favorite thing about it is acting and singing on stage,” she said. Whenever Boniela feels anxious before a performance, she listens to music to calm herself down.
Overall, drama club is important. Not just because students get to perform their skills, but it helps build confidence, encourage creativity, and teach partnership. For example, when Boniela joined the drama club this year, she became more comfortable with being on stage either singing or acting.
