Don’t Judge Someone Until You’ve Walked A Mile In Their Shoes…

Hey, I’m Nayon. My brother died when I was 5 years old. My mother was very sad. I didn’t really understand at the time, but it did hurt. To remember him with my mom and my sister he would always tell me that I was his favorite brother. His name was Yusef and he was 17 years old.

He was shot and killed in Newark. After that happened, we moved to Elizabeth when I was 7.  We lived in Elizabeth for a few years, but my mother decided we needed to move and live in a safer and better environment.

Even though this was a horrible tragedy, I learned from it.  I learned not to let it stop me and to always keep going.  I also learned to never forget how much I love and miss him.  I also know that he is here with me watching me.

The best advice I can give others is to cherish your people while they are here.
