WMS Custodians, the glue that keeps the school together

COURTEOUS CUSTODIANS: Here are the two generous and thoughtful men at the custodian HQ

Mr.Fedison & Mr. Mccollum Jr , the custodians of Woodbridge Middle School are the glue that keeps the school in one piece so let’s take a look at what goes on behind the scenes.

First, Mr. Mccollum Jr  discussed his family. He said they are “very nice people.”  He also said that they are a “very nice and supportive family when he left to join the Air Force.”  Mr. Mccollum Jr. retired from the Air Force to spend time “with the children in his family.” He said that his hobbies are “sports, football, and hockey.”  His favorite team is the Saint Louis Blues.

Mr. Mccollum Jr has been a custodian since leaving the Air Force. Mccollum Jr. explains what the hardest job to do at school is, “doing the wax on the floors is difficult because it takes a long time to cover the entirety of the floor”. Mr. Mccollum talked about the differences and experiences he had while in the Air Force while learning discipline and he said, “Once you join the Air Force they control you,” he also said, “I was taught how to get things done the right way in the Air Force.”

Mr. Bob Fedison said that he does not have any side jobs and enjoys working with his colleagues despite the job being difficult,  “Sometimes, it gets hard, but I still enjoy working with them.” Mr. Fedison also said that he “has a supportive and loving family.”  Mr.Fedison said he had two children.  He had two sons, but, sadly, one passed away.  And to honor his memory, his son’s football jersey is still hanging in the locker room of Woodbridge High School.

Mr.Fedison likes to work on his garden when he has free time. Mr.Fedison is a veteran that was given a purple heart for his service.  Mr. Fedison commented on his service when he said, “I saw things I didn’t think I would see.” He also said, “I learned that America is the greatest country on earth, also that millions lost their lives to protect the place they love.”

Our school would not be the same without them. Our school  appreciates them every day when we see them help around the building and make this school a better place to learn.
