WMS lunch ladies, Mrs. Malyar, Ms. Billings, and Mrs. Mackintosh are dedicated and caring toward the students here at WMS. They are skilled and savoir-faire a French word meaning “knowledgeable of what to do in any situation”-cooks in the kitchen.

An exclusive inside look at the magical seasonings that brighten up lunches.

Mrs. Malyar says, “ I think a knife is the most convenient tool in the kitchen because you can cut up stuff and open cans.” She also thinks that the Asian stir fry is the hardest dish to prepare because “you have to cut a bunch of stuff up with the rice.” Malyar says, “in order to keep the process a lot smoother we all have our own jobs to do and we need to know exactly what we should be doing at the time.”

Mrs. Billings prepares the burgers and hash browns .

In her free time Malyar likes to take care of her grandchildren and do fun things with them like “watching their favorite movies with them, taking them to the park, playing games with them; that sort of thing.”

Mrs. Malyar says she thinks the kids’ favorite lunch dish is popcorn chicken because “it’s like a finger food and everyone knows how much kids like to eat with their fingers.”  Teacher, Mr. Malstrom says, his favorite lunch dish is the “Mac’n’cheese with bacon on top along with the barbecue  chicken.” Malyar’s personal favorite dish is the barbecued chicken because it is just “good”. Malyar says “I really enjoy my job very much.  I’ve been here for 18 years going on my 19th year.”

The lunch ladies are deeply appreciated here at WMS. They provide tasty meals for hungry students. They are important and loved by the students at this school.
