Blackpink Concert Review
Dec 3, 2019
You may have heard of the group Blackpink before. If not, Blackpink is an energetic k-pop group who debuted in August 2016. Their music always has a good beat and makes their fans feel energetic when they listen to them. A few months ago I went to one of their concerts with one of my friends, my sister, and my aunt. It was definitely worth the price and I think we should’ve paid more.
The venue was amazing! When we first walked in there were tons of stands selling Blackpink merch. There were lights shining everywhere making the stage bright. Refat said the stage looked “really pretty because everyone had their light sticks.” Blackpink light sticks are shaped like hammers and have a black bottom with their logo carved on it. At the top of the stick they have a pink, rubber hammer that lights up, but instead of circular sides there are hearts. Almost everyone had one and it made the venue even more bright as they shone pink around the room. Where we were sitting you could even see the computers where they projected different images and shows on the stage.
The group was amazing and performed an extraordinary show. Lights were shining everywhere as they made light shows. At one point they put a mix of videos and pictures fans sent them and projected a video of them all together on the screen on the back of the stage. “You know how in concerts at the beginning it’s energetic and then they start to go downhill in the middle and not at the top of their game and then at the end it’s the big finale so it’s energetic again,” my sister Lily Hickok explained.
The group was extremely energetic throughout the whole concert. In between songs they would talk to the audience and sometimes in the middle of a song a member would ask if the audience was ready to sing with them. As they sang and interacted with the audience, they would also jump with energy. All the members were so amazing it was hard for fans to choose who did best. Hickok said “the thing that makes this question hard is the perspectives,” she explained that “certain people are good at different skills.”
They sang every song they had, even the remixes. At the end they made it seem like they were ending the show, but then they came back with a surprising one last song. Some of my favorite songs were “Whistle”, “Kill This Love”, and “Really”. “Whistle and “Kill This Love” are more upbeat songs while “Really” is more of a calm song. All the different types of songs put the whole concert together.
If you’re thinking about going to a Blackpink concert I strongly recommend going. I bet you’ll have a ton of fun even if you aren’t a big fan of Blackpink.
