Sixth Graders Jackie Morel and Anthony Gonzalez were surprised when they heard their names being called for Student of the Month during the pep rally on September 30, 2016.

Jackie Morel was called up to stand onstage in front of the school during the pep rally and receive the certificate. “I was surprised,” Jackie commented after the pep rally. “It was exciting to be recognized in the first month of school.” She also commented on the middle school, saying that it “feels like a new opportunity” and that middle school is very different from elementary school. “There is more freedom and a lot more space in middle school,” Jackie says. “The classes are more diverse and you’re not in class with the same people all the time.” Jackie also says that there are “different opportunities” in middle school, and that the teachers are “laid back”, unlike elementary school.

Anthony Gonzalez was the second Student of the Month for 6th grade. Like Jackie Morel, Anthony was also called up onto the stage at the pep rally to be recognized and to receive the certificate. “I was surprised when my name was called,” he comments. The 6th grader had been sitting in the back of the auditorium taking a nap, tired from a long day at school, when he was called. He had not realized that he was chosen. “I heard everyone around me saying ‘you got it, Anthony you got it!’ but I didn’t know what I had gotten.” When he did realize what was happening, he was excited. He said it was “the best feeling ever” to be recognized in front of the entire school.

Anthony seems to be enjoying his experience at Woodbridge Middle very much. He loves everything about the school, and thinks that it is very different from elementary school. “In elementary school, there is a lot less freedom and space.” Anthony comments about the school. “The lockers are pretty cool, too.” We’re glad you like the lockers, Anthony.  Keep up the good work.
