The Woodbridge Lady Warriors made it to the championship against Avenel Middle School and took second place in the WTSD league. Even though they lost, they still played their best

The Lady Warriors had a season with many ups and downs.  Some highlights include a huge double-play to end the inning by Hailey Lyman. Another highlight was a grand slam by Vanessa Morales to tie the game in the playoffs against Colonia; not to mention her second home run earlier in the game It is incredible that the Warriors were able to accomplish so much without a home field or a school, for that matter.

Pitcher and veteran 8th grader, Vanessa Morales explained how she felt she played and what she will miss the most since she played on the team for two years. She replied with, “I feel that she played her best. I will miss the most is Mr. Maneri and Mrs. Dunn’s coaching. Also, I will miss the practices and getting changed for games.”

Hailey Lyman, another 8th grader who played first and second base, said, “I feel that my best season was this season. I got hurt in the championship, but every game I did my best. I will miss the jokes Mr. Maneri said and the friendships I made with the girls.”

Center fielder and 8th grader Brianna Vargo said “I felt that I played sometimes good and bad. I will miss the most is the effort that was shown in our games and I will miss Mr Maneri and Mrs. Dunn.”

Team manager and 8th grader Alyssa Androvich said that she will miss the bus rides to the games. She felt that the team played well with having only three practices.

Finally, CoachDunn said that the team did “amazing” with the lack of practices. Also, she said the communication was great. If she could give advice for incoming Lady Warriors for the 2020-2021 season is that “your team is like family so communication is important. Also learn from your mistakes.”

Congratulations to the Lady Warriors on a successful season.
