On April 1, 1985 Villanova beats Georgetown University in the 47th NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Villanova an 8 seed from the southeast region takes down Patrick Ewing and the East region 1 seed Georgetown Hoyas 84-75.

Villanova’s starters Dwayne McClain with 17 points, Ed Pinckney with 16 points and Harold Jenson coming off the bench with an outstanding performance scoring 14 points carrying Villanova to the win and upsetting Patrick Ewing the star of Georgetown holding him to 14 points and taking home the national championship.
