The one-seeded boys bowling team rolled to the finish line with confidence. They fired on all cylinders, and came back to WMS with a championship.

Coach Maneri said, “There were tremendous improvements throughout the season, the boys focused more on their mechanics and they were hitting their spots at the end of the season.” Maneri is anticipating a big year next year as well, “A Four-Peat,” is what Maneri commented after being asked if he likes his returning seventh graders; but he also is “sad” after he “built

relationships” with his eighth graders and now they leave. There were big performances from Brian Cantalupo “The Cap,” and Josh Ruck, who both had great performances during the championship.

Josh Ruck and “The Cap”,  7th Grade Bowlers, provided incredible efforts in their win, Cantalupo said, “I did really well towards the end,” Ruck then commented,  “I did well but was very impressed by the team’s effort.” Cantalupo bowled a 126 and Ruck with an incredible bowl of 240 and 183, which were their top scores throughout the rounds.

Kaelyb Barahona, an eighth grader on the team, discussed the teams impact on him saying, “I’m very proud of the team and I’m happy on how I did.” Barahona has a career high of 176 pins knocked down in one game and a had an great championship effort of 110. Barahona also understood the game more “mentally and physically,” throughout this season and it has came to a close. Anthony Velardo said he feels “pretty good” about his victory in the championship and keep the “back to back to back” streak going. Velardo bowled a 140 and 138 in the Championship rounds a very consistent score and definitely improved between last year and this year. He lastly commented, “It’s good to go out on a good note.”

The boys bowling team won by a total of 44 pins the first game and 5 in the next which made it a clean sweep over the Avenel Wildcats. This makes it a back-to-back-to-back effort from these boys over the last three years.
