Georgia O’Keefe was an American artist that was born on November 15, 1887 and died on March 6, 1986 making her live to the age of 98. She is mostly known for her beautiful paintings often consisting of a mountain she would see by her secluded home in New Mexico and zoomed in pictures of flowers. She has won 3 awards including National Medal of Arts, Presidential Medal of Freedom, and Edward McDowell Medal. She is a non-self-taught artist who began her professional career with education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The power of objects and items was what she wanted to express when creating art.

To learn about O’Keefe was helpful because it introduced me to things I never learned about in visual art. A lesson on her is necessary because there is much to learn and things to understand about her and her work.
