An app called YouTube has taken the world at surprise. These people called “YouTubers” typically make main channel videos, but others create a second YouTube channel for their vlogs.

Vlogs (similar to blogs) are videos about the daily life of a YouTuber. Most people like vlogs according to the YouTuber, and the content in the vlogs. A lot of Youtubers videos go into categories like Comedy, DIY’s, Beauty, Food and also Gaming. Their second channel isn’t as professional, since they are vlogs. Vlogs are more raw, and unedited as opposed to a professional video. But what makes a good vlog?

Famous YouTubers like Ellie and Jared, Alisha Marie, and Adelaine Morin film vlogs. They don’t talk the whole time, but they use a technique called lapse which is a speed they use for videos and makes the section of a video go quicker. But when they do talk, they talk about something relatable, maybe about what is happening in the world or just about their life. At times they sit down and just talk about what is happening in “the world”, or what is happening in their life.

Alisha Marie makes her vlogs short, yet entertaining, but not like Adelaine Morin’s who makes long videos. Therefore, the person watching Adelaine Morin’s vlogs gets more entertained than a person watching an Alisha Marie vlog.

YouTubers sometimes set video uploading schedules. For example, Adelaine Morin does daily vlogging while Alisha Marie does post vlogs every three days or none since there are weeks she is really busy. Ellie and Jared, a family channel, does daily vlogging except on Sunday.

Vlogs depend on what you like to see. Do you like makeup hauls? Do you like travel vlogs? Do you like cooking vlogs? Somethings that are key in having a good vlog is having something entertaining for the video to go on. Without entertainment, fans would be bored and move on to something else. Having a good title and thumbnail catches viewer’s eyes, which can increase the likelihood of getting more views. Another key to having a good vlog is not having the same thing over again and again it’ll get repetitive. What do you think makes a good vlog?
