Invincible has been one of the “best”, if not the “best”, superhero shows that we’ve gotten that is based on the original comics and with episodes 1-4 out I’m going to be talking about my overall review and what I enjoyed about it.
Before I continue there will be some spoilers…
Invincible season 4 introduces us to many new characters such as Universa, Dinosaurus, Rognarrs. And Thragg which we should see more of in the upcoming future. The reason why this season is different is because Mark isn’t the same person we’ve seen in the previous 3 seasons. This time the hurt feels real, he’s still recovering from past injuries, dealing with mental problems, and just the overall trauma of everything that has led up to now.
This season brings much excitement, tension, and overall enjoyment to fans that will have you on the edge of your seat. In episode 1 we got introduced to many events such as Dinosaurus, Universa, the return of the Sequids, Oliver being in his late teens, Conquest escaping, and Eve beginning to lose her powers. As I mentioned earlier, Mark isn’t the same person anymore and we’re basically getting to see the darker side of him, kind of like a symbiote Spider-man.
Some good examples of this included when he was fighting Dinosaurus and when he turned back into a human Mark was holding him by the neck and was about to kill him right before the guardians arrived or when the sequids were invading the city and Mark killed Rus Livingston in order to stop the sequids completely, and when he was going off on Titan and had to told to stop by his brother Oliver. That just goes to show Mark isn’t playing around anymore.
In the second episode titled “I’ll give you the grand tour” it goes into detail about the events mainly focusing around Allen and Nolan and their journey that leads towards the Viltrumite war. The reason why this is so important is because it’s also one of the “best”, if not the “best”, team we are going to see so far. The teams for the Viltrumite war include Battlebeast, Allen, Nolan(Omni-man), Great Theadus, Space Racer, Tech Jacket, Oliver, and of course Invincible. This is the main focus of this season that should be very fun to watch if It plays out like in the comics.
Invincible is also known for having some of the best castings out there with people such as Steven Yuen as Invincible, J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, Seth Rogan as Allen, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Conquest, Lee Pace as Thragg, and much more. Most of these Actors have been in other famous shows/movies with a really notable one being another famous show/Comic known as The Walking Dead which was also made by Robert Kirkman. Invincible season 4 even managed to get up to 100% on rotten tomatoes which is pretty impressive.
The most recent episode of Invincible titled “Hurm” mainly focuses on events that originally were going to be in the comics but never fully made it through. This episode is mostly about Invincible and Damian Darkblood going down into the crevices of the earth or what is also known as “Hell” and going to defeat Volcanikka and the other demons and also to save “Damian’s” people. While some people will say that this is more of a “filler”
episode, I think It’s a good way of setting the tone for some really important events that are yet to come
We also got to see Mark go back to his iconic Blue, Yellow, and black suit which was something highly anticipated by many fans. Another really important part of this episode is getting to see Nolan and Allen return to Earth, which will play a major part in the next few episodes. To “conclude”, I think the first 4 episodes of Invincible season 4 was amazing and I think it will continue to thrive and satisfy the fandom.
