The Giant Freshwater Stingray is the largest species of stingray in the world, it has a width of 6 to 8 feet and total lengths up to 16 feet including the tail, It lives in large river systems and estuaries in Southeast Asia, particularly the Mekong River basin (Cambodia, Thailand) and rivers in Borneo, They prefer benthic habitats, often resting at depths of 5 to 20 meters on sandy or muddy bottoms. it is a carnivore that feeds on the river bottom, using electroreception to locate prey. Their diet primarily consists of benthic invertebrates, including crustaceans, mollusks, aquatic worms, and small fish, possesses one of the largest, this species has the most venomous stingray barbs in the world, measuring up to 15 inches in length. These serrated, venom-coated spines are located at the base of the tail and can penetrate bone and skin, The species is listed as endangered by the IUCN ( International Union For Conservation Of Nature) it is threatened by habitat destruction, hydropower dam construction, overfishing, and pollution.
