Mrs.Carelli, the dance teacher at Woodbridge Middle school, introduced the Dance Company two years ago so kids who want to dance have the ability to.
Dance Company is a club at WMS. She said that “She encourages students to join because she understands that just because you’re not enrolled in a dance class or wasn’t able to get it into your schedule doesn’t mean you can’t have the chance to move your body.”
Carelli also said that she wants students to join the dance company because it lets them “express themselves” in ways that words cannot.
Dance Company meets once a week with 8th graders on Friday mornings, and 6 and 7th graders Thursday after school. They perform about two to three dances a year and perform at events like Multicultural Night, Black History Month Assembly, and the WMS Glow Dance.
Stephanie Madera, an 8th-grade student at WMS, shares some information about Dance Company. She said, “She likes being in the club because she gets to learn new styles of dance, make new friends, and explore a sport she has never done before.”
Madera also encourages people to join the Dance Company because it’s a “fun experience and you will make lots of memories.”
Madera said that her favorite dance she has learned in Dance Company is “Turn The Beat Around” because of the unique movements and how fun it is.
