Skate is an awesome game to play in your free time. The Skate series gained popularity by offering a more realistic and gritty skateboarding experience than its competitors, emphasizing culture and physics over arcade-style gameplay. It also succeeded through a strong, community-driven approach with features like the “Flic
[ “k-it” control scheme, a laid-back atmosphere, and popular sequels like Skate 3 that became a hit with content creators and streamers for its humor and emergent glitches. It’s mostly played by skaters and some even people who don’t skate play it because it is such a fun game. Skate games have evolved from old, bad, and glitchy graphics to now, high-quality and smooth gameplay and graphics.
Here are 5 things you need to know in the game of skate.
Gameplay:
Under the gameplay category, trick toggles, turn firecrackers on. That way, you can manual downstairs, without losing speed or getting stuck on them. Normally, while you’re riding, and then you ollie, you can only spin about 180 degrees. But if you pull down your right stick to do the ollie, and then pull down your left stick, and bring it either left or right, you’ll rotate your shoulders, so that you can spin way more. You can use this on ramps as well to get more spin, not just on flat ground.
To do the most popular grab in the game, the “Christ air,” When going off a ramp, you can hold L2 and O together to do the grab. If you want to do a gap and you can’t get as fa,r you can hold your top left top button, then go to quick drop or the ramps on top and you can add whatever you want to make it easier. To do a kick flip, you can put your right foot down and flick it a little bit to the right to finish the kickflip.
Settings: The best settings for gameplay
To go to your settings, press options, and once you’re at the menu, you must press square. Go to graphics, go to window mode, and press full screen. I do this because if not, some of your screen will be blank. With this change, it helps if you’re doing a gap or just cruising. Next, go to controls and scroll down until it says “x to ollie.” I do this because it is easier than using your joystick to do it, and another reason is to do grabs instead of ollies of ramps. Lastly, go to accessibility and scroll to controller vibration. I take this off. I do this because if you try to land a trick, it can mess up your fingers from doing what you would like to do.
Map: The top 5 best skate spots to go to when playing skate
Strand Street: on top of a building, and the feeling of going down and ollieing of the ramp feels so nice on the controller and sounds nice as well.
The P-Hus, This is definitely the most famous spot on the map, with you going down a building and olling off into a church window. Often times people do the famous Christ air grab into the window and land on the lifted up platform and set a ramp after landing.
The chum bucket: it’s a stadium, and there is a ramp down one of the poles, and you can jump straight down onto it to get lots of speed and ollie onto another ramp after. I like this spot because there are so many different ways you can land.
Tri Towers: This spot is also off a rooftop. You can ollie off the rooftop and land in an empty swimming pool and ollie off of that onto another building, which has an upgoing ramp. Then, after riding off the building, then spread eagle onto the wall and wall ride down, and hippy jump onto the ramp at the bottom. 8th grader, Bronson Linder, said, “The tri towers gap is my favorite because of how long I was on it.”
