This year, WMS softball has entered the playoffs for the 25/26 season. They have a new coach from the high school, Coach Deleo.
Deleo, the WMS softball coach, talked about how important it is to have a relationship with her players and other people in general. Saying, “I think building relationships is all about showing you care.”
Anabelle Dowark, an 7th grader on the team, talked about the importance of being a good teammate and having a good mindset, “If I mess up, I’m not going to get mad or quit. I am going to make the very next play.”
Ava Kripatis, an 8th grader on the softball team, explained how to get through the game by being a leader, fixing her mindset before a game. She said, “You always have to be confident because if you’re not confident, you’re not going to do good. You have to be a good teammate and cheer for your team if you’re not in the game.”
Kripaitis explained the importance of being a leader. She said, “To help them, I give them a pep talk, but when I’m not really feeling it, I just tell myself I’m confident, and then I picture all the good plays I did in my head, or I like to talk to my parents, and they give me a pep talk.”
Coach Deleo talked about how important it is to have a good mindset to get better at softball or anything in life. She said, “A hardworking player comes in every day trying to get better than the day before. My mindset is always to have fun.”
Alexa Dachowicz, an 8th grader on the team, talked about the importance of playing the game to have fun and just be good to yourself. She said, “I always remind myself…I will be alright if anything happens.”
Congratulations on a good season and mindset!
