Are there subjects that you’re not very good at? We will teach you how to get better at the school subjects you’re not so good at and help you get better, but it takes a lot of motivation to get better grades. You have to put in the effort to make a change. It’s not going to just come to you, you will have to earn it and want to get good grades.
We are Rielle and Armani and we both have some experience here. I (Rielle) used to get bad grades and never understood any subjects. Now as a seventh grader, next year I will be in honors classes. I started to understand and pay more attention in class and when my friends were not doing the work, I was.
I (Armani) used to be really bad in math and it was my least favorite subject and now I am better because I pay more attention than I did before. I started to realize that I have to get better grades and I just worked harder and actually tried and I got better. Now math is my second favorite subject.
Why Kids Don’t Do Well In School
There’s a lot of kids in our grade who aren’t doing so well in school because some of them don’t care, and others need help. As a kid who is good at most subjects, my grades don’t really show how smart I (Rielle) actually am because sometimes I get lazy. Sometimes it’s hard to find time to do your homework. I’ve learned the best way to get better is to just practice and take a little time to learn and try to understand the subjects. The problem now is that kids are worried about what their friends are doing and being smart and worrying about school is seen as being weird or not fun. This needs to change.
How to Improve
Use a daily planner. Input due dates, assignments, projects, events, quizzes and exams as soon as you get them. Guilanna De Jesus said, “I mean honestly it just comes to when you actually do your work. So [if] I’m doing good in school so I don’t think I’ve fallen in that category but I do get lazy sometimes.”
If you’re someone who likes to go out and have fun but want to keep your grades up you can always reward yourself, what I mean by that is if you do your homework for the day you can set a time for yourself where you can go out or do whatever. Communicate with your teachers if you’re struggling, maybe they’ll help you and make sure you understand.
Tips from Rielle:
- Study, find a way to make studying more enjoyable, for example I listen to music
- Listen to your teacher
- Don’t let your friends encourage you in the wrong ways
- Pay attention
- Ask for help when help is needed
Tips from Armani:
- Study things you’re not good at
- Do homework in the class because you might forget about it
- Ask your teachers for help and they will help you
- Pay attention and don’t play games and just focus
- Be respectful to your teachers. They will like you more and be happier to help you.
