Ms. Acheson and Nurse Lauren made a groundbreaking Women’s History Month symposium in the auditorium at WMS this week.
Ms. Acheson is the advisor for the Mental Health Club and one of the school counselors and she worked hard to create the Women’s History Symposium with the Mental Health Club Members. Ms. Acheson, specifically, said, “I have 37 kids in the mental health club and a majority of them are 8th graders that really helped out and came every morning before school.”
Another person who helped make this symposium possible was Ms. Laurn. The reason she wanted to help with this event is because “women’s history is very important, and I think it is something that we should bring to the attention of everybody.”
One of the Mental Health Club members Monserrat Batista said, “ My favorite part of this event is seeing everyone would come and be intrigued to learn more about women’s history and how they can contribute to society.”
One woman that Monserrat finds inspirational is her mom. She said, “An inspirational woman in my life would have to be my mom because she does so much for our house and she’s a single mom”.
