Students and staff have their opinions about Woodbridge Middle School, and we have combined them to write an honest review.
Students say that Woodbridge Middle School is an excellent school and that they love it here. Delaney Fallon is a seventh grade student at Woodbridge Middle School. She said, “I like the teachers a lot, and I also like that my friends are here.” Many students say they enjoy extracurricular activities, such as sports, clubs, and the G&T program.
Along with the positives, there are negatives about Woodbridge Middle School. Many students say that all the homework and schoolwork they get quickly stresses them out. The kids at WMS say they want a longer lunch, or to bring back recess. They complain that a half-hour lunch is too short, and it’s not enough time to eat, especially since students who purchase school lunch cannot get up to buy it unless their table is called.
Have you ever wondered how your teachers feel about working at the middle school? Many teachers say they enjoy working at this school. Mrs. Washington is a language arts teacher at Woodbridge Middle School. She said, “The students. I love the kids,” and she loves being able to influence or direct students as they grow. Mrs. Desch, an American history and civics teacher at Woodbridge Middle School, said, “I love the community and I think that the students are very willing to learn and try new things and that’s awesome”.
Do you want to change anything about your school? I’m sure you said yes. Mrs. Washington said, “ I think the sixth graders not being able to participate in athletics would be one thing [I would change]. I think they should have a voice and I think they should be allowed to try out and participate in athletics just like everyone else.” Many other teachers and students, especially sixth graders, agree with this. Sixth graders cannot do most sports, only having cross-country as an available sport for them.
Ms. Desch said, “One thing I would love to change about Woodbridge Middle is to add a garden club. I think it would be awesome for younger adults and children to be able to learn how to garden because it’s our livelihood right plants and vegetables and such so I think that would be awesome.” More clubs would be great for students to join. It gives them a chance to get and socialize more.
In conclusion, together the staff and students agree that this middle school is great. For example, the students seem to like the teachers, and teachers seem to like the students and the clubs keep students excited. People would like to see more kindness from students, and more opportunities for all students like the 6th grade.
