On October 4, 2024 Mr.Panko, the new principal at WMS, was interviewed and welcomed to the school at Woodbridge Middle by Mr. Blasena’s multimedia team.
Mr. Blasena hosts an interview with every new principal and vice principal to welcome them to the school.
Mr. Panko, the principal of WMS, talked about how he felt in the interview. He said, “I was very excited about the interview. It gave me a chance to talk to the students about the questions they had for me.”
Mr. Panko continued to explain that he felt a little intimidated by the experience because it was so professional, “A little intimidating , like a really professional studio so it feels like it’s not just me and you talking with a microphone and a camera. That’s some real stuff and I’m like, ‘this is getting intense!’”
Overall, the experience was a success. Panko said, “I felt very satisfied that I got my message across to everybody. I also felt that the person that was asking me the questions and everybody in the room was serious about what they were doing and I very much appreciated the students at Woodbridge Middle.”
Mr. Blasena, the multimedia teacher at WMS said, “Woodbridge Middle School has had a lot of principals throughout the years, even before you were here so this is the 7th or 8th principal.”
Blasena also explained what caused him to interview administrators with his class, “So it is important that the community knows who is in charge of the school. We did it with Mr.O’Halloran when he first came a couple of years ago, so when Mr.Panko first started it’s just a routine that whoever is new we interview.”
A lot goes into the planning of the multimedia class. Blasena commented on how he organized it, “So I had a list of jobs for camera people to lights and because we have such a small class the students knew that they probably have to have two jobs if someone was absent, so they all got an option and tried out all the jobs and then finally decided what one they wanted.”
Mr.Blasena explained his favorite part about the process is the final part, “The final part, to see how it started from they or thinking about what type of questions to ask to practice and the final product which is now on YouTube. It was awesome to see the final product.”
Mr. Blasena also explained who he thinks worked the hardest, “I think they all did because if the product was finally finished it’s all pieces that worked together. We wouldn’t have had a good interview without a good camera person but they were all pieces to the answer who worked the hardest they all did. Mr.Panko I think worked the hardest and that was tough to answer the questions.”
Zachary Ortiz-Loricka , a multimedia student at WMS, “It felt good to know more about him. “
Ortiz-Loricka explained what was his favorite part about the interview, “My favorite part was asking rapid-fire questions.”
The upcoming names are the people that are going to be interviewed: Mrs. Acherson , The BEST Counselors , Mr. Sims the WMS Security guard, and Nurse Tulli.
Stay tuned to the multimedia class with their interviews!
