Dance at WMS is gearing up for the 2024/2025 year this fall.
Ms Carelli, the dance teacher, talked about the upcoming events for the Dance Company. Carelli said, “In 2025 the dance company is sponsoring the Glow Dance and we will perform at it. We are also having an April 17 spring show which will include dance and theater.” She also talked about how she is planning immediate events for 2024.
Students enjoy dance as well. 8th grade student, Kaitlyn Anthony, said, yes she would recommend it to others because “It is something different.”
Students may be curious about what is done in dance, Ms. Carelli said, “In dance class, we go through a bunch of different units, we start with functional movement and wellness.’’ In dance students do projects and go through different styles of dance.
Students may question why they should join dance. Ms. Carelli said that students should join dance because, “You get the chance to come in to move your body, to try something new, and to have fun.”
Ms Carelli said her favorite part about teaching dance is “ that I get to watch everyone experience dance.”She said that she finds joy in seeing students learn new things especially about dance even if they have never taken a dance class before.
Ms Carelli is excited to give back to Woodbridge through dance and Dance Company . She said, “ I actually did my student teaching in woodbridge so coming back to woodbridge and running this program was really exciting for me.”
