The WMS chorus club is preparing for the spring and winter seasons.
Chorus is popular with students because of the opportunities provided to students. For example, chorus gets to go to Six Flags for a competition.
Lanique Jenkins is a student in chorus at WMS and she said she is looking forward to Six Flags because they are doing a competition there and she’s nervous if they are going to win or not. She also said she is excited to go on the rides after the competition.
Jenkins also talked about how she feels performing in front of people. She said she is not scared to performing in front of the school, but sometimes she can get nervous. However, she doesn’t show it on her face and that’s because it’s not regular to sing in front of a of people.
Mr. McGuire, the chorus teacher at WMS, said, “I would say our performance at the High Note competition in the spring with our big and small chorus when we got the highest ranking at the festival.” He was describing his best performance with WMS.
Mr. McGuire shared what people should have to join chorus, he said “to have an open mind because when you get old your voice changes and it can be harder than it was as a kid and to be gentle on yourself because it’s a safe space for singing.”
Mr. McGuire gave extra advice for the new chorus kids, and said that “students should join chorus because its a way to learn different music types. And also singing is good way to express yourself and make alot of new friends.”
