Mrs. Dinella will be the advisor of the student council this year. The council will meet in room 101.
8th-grade teacher and student council administrator Mrs. Dinella talks about how the student council will hold an election for important roles in the council. Every homeroom will have a representative and an alternative that students in the homeroom will vote for. She also said that the roles available will be president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary.
The students of the student council will decide on certain events to plan for the school year, specifically hoping to bring back something called, “Empty Bowls.” Empty Bowls is a fun thing that the art classes do, where they make pinch pots out of clay.
WMS would then invite the Board of Ed., the mayor, or people from the town of Woodbridge to have lunch with the students and eat soup in a crock pot with some biscuits. It would cost five dollars, and all of the money would go to a charity called, “We Feed Woodbridge.” We Feed Woodbridge participates in township-wide food drives to restock food pantries in churches and synagogues.
Mrs. Dinella said that the student council would have meetings twice a month, one with the officers and one with the entire student council, including the representatives of each classroom. The events will take place when the student council decides which days will work the best. However, the student council doesn’t have all of the dates ironed out yet, since it is only the beginning of the school year and multiple clubs are just now starting.
Mrs. Dinella also said if she could lead anything besides the student council, she would [try to] run for mayor. She said she’d start as a council worker, then she would slowly work her way up to the mayor. Mrs. Dinella said jokingly, “McCormick won’t have a chance against me.”
