Family Movie Night

The auditorium awaits the next movie night.

The WMS community had their first movie night broadcasting the movie Elemental in the WMS auditorium with snacks and drinks and packed with students, teachers and parents.

The opinions of the first movie night are mixed, but nonetheless it was still a great movie night. Dr Lott said, “Oh my gosh, it was such a success to watch the movie Elemental. The kids loved it. They were well behaved. The pickup was really great and we sold a lot of snacks”.

The movie night was organized by the WMS Parent/Community Outreach Program where teachers and counselors put together events to get the community more involved with the school. To make school more fun and to let the parents have some fun in the projects and events in the school.

The reason that Dr. Lott chose the movie Elemental is because “it kind of also has a school or science element to it because it deals with the elements” and she said that the movie was “fun and engaging.”

The movie night went well and the majority of people said it was a good movie and Dr.Lott said it was a “tearjerker” and she also said that the movie itself is not too “kiddy.”

Elemental was the only movie that came to Dr.Lott’s mind and she also said, “I tried to make sure I stayed away from the movies that aren’t related to everybody. I think that if you do Halloween, some people don’t celebrate Halloween.” She also said that, overall, it was hard to choose a movie.

Dr. Lott said that the best part of the movie was when the elements figure out that “they can mix and not get hurt.”

Meanwhile, the students said that the most favorable character in the movie was Ember.

Dr. Lott said that she hopes that there will be another movie night in the spring and 6th grader, Jonathan Cruz, said that they would go again, but they did have some suggestions like “better snacks” like Gatorade or Doritos being sold at the movie night.
