The WMS Student Council’s breast cancer awareness walk from the back of the school was a smashing success with over 1500 dollars made last Friday.
Miss Nardoza, the organizer of the walk and student council advisor, said that “the main reason we do this is to raise money, so I think it was definitely positive because of all the money we raised.”
Nardoza said that the walk has been going on for longer than she has been at Woodbridge Middle School, and was started by Mrs. Dymond to help support breast cancer.
7th grade student, Aria Randolph, said that she participated because “[her] aunt had breast cancer so [she] wanted to help support her.”
Nardoza said that the walk was “successful in terms of raising a lot of money” and she thinks that everyone has fun going outside and enjoys the ice pops.
7th student Leeamy Garcia say that she went “so [she] can see [her] friends and just to contribute to the breast cancer walk because [her] auntie has breast cancer”
Nardoza also said that “Even though the walk is sometimes a little chaotic, it is a very easy way to raise money that all goes directly to breast cancer research.”
Nardoza said the walk has changed from last year by just changing the location. She said it is not safe to have it in the front because there is access to the street and stop signs which can be dangerous.
Nardoza said that next year there might not be a walk and instead a “pep rally” or “something in the gym or in the auditorium where there’s games and prizes and things like that.”
