Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday. Eight candles are lit to represent the number of days that the temple lantern blazed. About 2% of the US celebrates this holiday.

To celebrate the start of a new year, many people gather around to light fireworks to the sky. This was invented about 4,000 years ago.
