Get Grooving: Best album of the Century CLB or not?
Jun 13, 2022
In September 2021, Drake and Kanye West released an album on the same day causing competition between two highly awaited drops. Though loved by many people, Drake’s album, Certified Lover Boy, had controversy.
The album cover was covered with 12 pregnant women emojis. Several spoke out against the fact that there was no red-haired woman emoji in the 12 presented.
Drake explained to the audience that there was no meaning behind the album cover. As far as the songs went, they were very chill. Most of the songs in the album had known artists like Future, Yebba, Lil Baby, Giveon, JAY-Z, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, and more.
Drake’s most-selling album is Views which came out in 2016.
The most played song on CLB was “Knife Talk”. It features 21 Savage and Project Pat. I interviewed students at Woodbridge Middle School on their opinion of Drake’s album.
A lot of students shared their favorite songs. Jaylynn Baez told me that her favorite song in CLB is “Knife Talk.” Baez informed me that although she did enjoy Certified Lover Boy, it wasn’t her favorite album.
Suerkha Edwards’ least favorite song is “Love All”. “ It didn’t stand out to me,” Edwards said. Although according to Edwards, CLB was kind of bad, she informed me that the album released in 2011, “Take Care”, is her favorite.
A viral song on Drake’s album featured another artist, Yebba. The song is called “Yebba’s Heartbreak” which is more of a sad song. Yebba explained that she wrote the song based on her mom’s passing. 8th grader, Nathan Cobbah, said it was his favorite song.
Despite the different opinions on Certified Lover Boy, many fans still love Drake who is one of the most popular rap artists in 2022.
