Coffee rationing begins.
In 1942 coffee joins the list of items rationed (allow each person to only have a fixed amount of) in the U.S. Regardless of record coffee production in Latin American countries, the growing requests for the bean from military and civilian origin, and the command placed on shipping, which was needed for another cause required the limiting of its availability. On July 1943 coffee was released.
