WMS baseball team prepares for the playoffs

WMS baseball team!

Coach Thomsen said Iselin Middle School was the hardest team to beat this season. Iselin played against The Warriors in the Woodbridge Township School District championship game on October 25.

“This year’s opponents are on the same level as our team,”  Coach Thomsen commented about what he thinks of the other teams in Woodbridge, “it’s a good thing that we have worked so hard in practice.”  He is proud of how much The Warriors  had improved from the start to the end. Coach Malmstrom, the other coach of the baseball team, said it is an “extremely rewarding job.”

Coach Thomsen said the WMS Warriors greatest strengths are “pitching, hitting, and defense”. They prepare by treating practice as though it were a normal game.   Both coaches believe that having discipline in practice carries over to a game situation.  Coach Malmstrom believes that having “high expectations and following through with them creates an environment of honesty and an opportunity to have fun, which is just as important.”

Coach Thomsen’s favorite part of this year’s games was “watching them develop.” Most people wouldn’t be surprised if this year’s team comes back to join the team again next year. Both coaches, Coach Thomsen and Coach Malmstrom wanted to coach the Warriors baseball team because they had wonderful coaches and mentors growing up and he wanted to do the same for their players.
