Kind students earn a special award

Savannah Tavares and William Gustav III pose for their picture on stage at the Pep Rally

The Pep Rally on Friday, September 30th, took place in the auditorium to celebrate the new year and student success.  Two students that were awarded the Special Recognition were Savannah Tavares and William Gustav III.

The Special Recognition award goes to the students who were seen doing extreme acts of kindness. Teachers write down the names of the students who are extremely nice and emails them to Mrs.Torella who keeps a tally of how many votes each student gets.

Savannah Taveras says she inspires herself to be kind because she just likes being kind. ”Being kind is something great to have to your own name.” She commented. Savannah believes the award is important because it encourages good behavior. She thinks the students who are “sweet and kind” are deserving of the award. Savannah thinks she won the award because she is helpful.

William Gustave III says he thinks he won the award because he obeys his teachers and all adults. William recommends the student who is “nice to everyone.” William believes the award is important because it shows how nice a person truly is. William was glad, surprised, and “a little bit nervous” when they called his name for the award. William says he remembers himself picking up books and other school supplies when his fellow students dropped them.

When both students came up on stage, they got their pictures taken and received their certificates. Two things both Savannah and William have in common is that they are spectacular examples for students and are especially kind.
