Film Festival 2018 Best visual effects trophy

Jeffrey Deleon Vaca, Fall Author

WTSD students now have the chance to be filmmakers. They will be able to do so in this year’s film festival that will take place around June.

There are some regulations so that the competition turns out fair.  For example, the film must be made on an iPad or on a PC. The competition is for the students of our school and the whole Woodbridge school district. Mr. Blasena believes that the committee holds this festival every year because of the technology that students are provided in Woodbridge schools today.

There isn’t a set date yet, but last year it was held around Spring and June. The event will be held in the WMS school auditorium. The people of the town enjoyed it so much last year that it was a “full house” Mr.Blasena said.

Anthony Gonzalez, an 8th grader at WMS, explained how “stop-motion and visual effects can be frustrating”, but also explained that “patience” is needed when making films like these.

His job as a filmmaker was to “make the best film ever” and it took long hours considering it took two months to finish. But he also said that he “took [his] time and worked hard.”

Our school was awarded the 3D printed star-shaped trophy for best visual effects. Hopefully, we can make other exceptional films and bring home the gold this year too.

If you are interested in joining this film festival, see Mr.Blasena for more information and questions. Be creative, try hard, but most of all have fun.
