Mr. Cardoso says it feels “gratifying” to win the May 8th grade TOTM award
Jun 15, 2018
This year, the May 8th grade TOTM award was handed to Mr. Cardoso! With the students from WMS racking up votes; it was a well deserved award!
“It feels gratifying. It shows students appreciate what I do which is nice,” Cardoso explained on how it felt. Before Cardoso became a teacher, he attended Kean University for undergrad, then attended Georgian Court University for his Master’s Degree. He explained, “Yes. I got to learn so much about what I wanted to teach” after questioned on if he enjoyed his college years.
Even though Cardoso’s free time is limited, he “loves” to spend time with his kids whenever the opportunity comes around. Cardoso stated, “My kids take up so much of my free time, but I also like to play this game called Simcity with them.”
His favorite topic to teach most definitely has to be Microsoft Excel. “I think this program is so useful and important because the kids haven’t really used this and has so much too offer,” stated Cardoso.
Despite being a computer teacher, that is not the first job he wanted to pursue. As a kid Cardoso wanted to be an airline pilot because it sounded so “interesting”. After that, his mind quickly changed. Cardoso was inspired by his teacher in high school. He had the mindset that if she could devote so much time and care so much for her students, why can’t I do the same. Now the person that inspires him to keep teaching is the students. “The students are the ones that inspire me. They are just so eager to learn and they appreciate my effort I put in” stated Cardoso.
Congratulations Mr. Cardoso! This was the right award for the right person.
