June is here, and school is almost out. Out with the old, in with the new. New experiences for upcoming 7th graders and the upcoming 8th graders get to rule the school.

The 6th graders get to pick their own schedule now, get to participate in sports and the lunch time is different. Here is some advice for the new changes.

6th graders get to pick their own language and elective instead of being required to take world language, technology, music, and art. Now you have a choice of the languages; spanish, french, and chinese. This takes up one semester. Then you have the choice of journalism, STEM, multimedia , Biztown, art and music. Your specials will be in 1st block. There are requirements; gym and health classes are required, their will not be getting out of it. You are also required to take one language and one semester elective or two electives that take up one quarter.

7th graders are allowed to tryout for any sport as long as they hand in the correct paperwork. A physical is required in order to tryout and the permission slips that the coach gives you. You must keep at least a C average if you make the team and you have to be a good student. 8th graders are supposed to be there to help you and not scare you. But if you do come across an 8th grader doing the opposite and not being a role model, telling you what to do rudely , try to confront them and say something kindly.

The usual time that you 6th graders go to lunch is right after second block. But in 7th grade, you will go to third block ,then in the middle of third block go to lunch. Then you come back for the second half of third block. If you think that you can’t get through without being hungry, try breakfast later than you normally do. The original 7th grade lunch is B lunch , the second, but that can always change so you have to be soluble.

Kaitlyn chepel says “in 6th grade everyone wanted to be on top and cared what people thought about them but now in 7th grade they are more comfotrable and more layed back.” 7th grade is full of excitement and you have a lot more freedom. Good luck next year in the new grade 6th graders!
