READY FOR ANYTHING: WMS Lady Warriors are ready to win the next point.

At the last home game, the WMS Lady Warriors Volleyball team come out on top with a win against Avenel Middle School. With the playoffs on May 30, 2018, and the championships on May 31, 2018, the team is determined to secure success.

Madison Rackett, a 7th grader on the WMS Lady Warriors Volleyball team, felt “very special” and “lucky” to be part of an “amazing” team, and to “have the honor” to play with them. Rackett states, “Yes, the gym construction has affected our training, because now we have to train in the Ross Street gym. It’s a lot smaller than what we’re used to.” Rackett didn’t feel “that much pressure”, since she “treated it like it was a normal

game”. Rackett comments, “I think I can get my spikes more like an actual spike, and I want to get my overhand serve.”

Abigail Rodriguez, an 8th grader on the WMS Lady Warriors Volleyball team, says, “it felt good to win, since it was the last home game. I’m just glad we won.” Rodriguez says they “need to adjust to a smaller gym”, but it also “trains us to work harder”. Rodriguez comments, “I didn’t feel a lot of pressure, because it just felt like a regular game.” Rodriguez thinks she can work on “spiking and hitting”, because “I’m not as tall as others”, and I’m a “lefty”. I have to “jump more due to my height”.

Olivia Viggiano, and 8th grader on the WMS Lady Warriors Volleyball team, says that she “felt good” to win, because both the girls and boys won. Agreeing with Rackett, Viggiano states, “the gym construction has definitely affected our training, because the nets at Ross Street aren’t as good as the ones at WMS, and the height of the gym is a lot smaller. We can’t work on some skills anymore.” Viggiano says it “felt like a normal game”, so she didn’t feel much pressure. Viggiano comments “I can get better at hitting, since it’s majorly important in volleyball.”

Emelia Kraft, an 8th grader on the WMS Lady Warriors Volleyball team, states, “it felt good to win, knowing that we won in our gym for the last home game.” The team has to practice in the Ross Street gym, and “it is really small”. At first, Kraft felt “a lot of pressure”, then she felt “fine”. Kraft states, “I can work on jumping for the spike.”
