‘Heartbreak Kodak’ better know as ‘HBK’ for short is one of Kodak Black’s most recent projects . Despite him being Locked up for the past few months he still has been able to release a Mixtape of 17 songs for Valentine’s Day this year . The album is basically based on his past experiences with his love life and past relations he has had with people . It also goes into dept on how he found out that one of his closest friends got shot while kodak was recording in the studio .

‘Running Outta Love’ is the opening song to the album . It pretty self explanatory of what its about but he says ‘Been runnin’ out of love for you lately (out of L-O-V-E) I don’t wanna mess wit’ you no more (Baby I’m T-I-R-E-D) I ain’t got no hope in us baby (Ain’t got no H-O-P-E) It don’t make no sense tryna hold on (Baby I’m tired, baby I’m tired, there ain’t no we) Been runnin’ out of love for you lately (There ain’t no hope, there ain’t no us, there ain’t no we) I don’t wanna mess with you no more (There ain’t no we) I ain’t got no hope in us baby (There ain’t no we) It don’t make no sense tryna hold on.’ His relationship with his current girlfriend isn’t going so well so he feels as if they should just end it instead of hurting while being together .

‘Bill and Jill’ on the album also reflects on how some of the females he has been with they were like ride or die for him . He also adds in a little bit of input on how people around him have been hating on him and lying on him in order to make him fail , “They be hating on me lying on me too.” This album has sort of a R&B feel to it with the calm beats and smooth melodies . His voice also flows with the beats as they go about and it makes it more catchy .

This album has multiple songs that tells life lessons of him, it shows a lot of compassion that he have had with various women through love letters . On the sad toned “I Get Lonely,” he positions himself as a victim of the state, deploying lines like, “I don’t be tryna be violent, life could be much greater/But they wanna see me in prison, wanna see me on them papers.” This is almost like he is telling a story about him and his crimes he has committed . He grew up in Golden Acres a housing project in Pompano Beach , Florida . His location of where he grew up is part of why he is always in trouble with the law.

If you really listen to the Mixtape you hear he is telling a story about his life and what is is with being behind bars , him changing and all his relationships . One song that caught eye of many people is ‘No Feelings’ this song is talking about how he found out one of his closest friends being killed . While he found this out he was in the studio writing a love song to his girlfriend . “My intention was to get in the booth and start singing But once I walked inside the booth my phone started ringing Ain’t answer cause I’m trying to vibe and talk to my lady Lemme put you on hold real quick, man you talking crazy Like why you calling me? I’m trying to do RnB But now I gotta mix it up, I’m holding two conversations Don’t you know this album’s ‘posed to be for all the cuties Now you calling me, got me in here talkin ’bout a shooting”
